The World of Icarusian
Please keep in mind, this page is still under construction and so is missing a lot of info!
Icarusian a massive planet! It consists of multiple continents and many smaller islands surrounded by deep oceans, covered in active and dormant volcanoes, and features 'magic vents' - areas from which massive volumes of natural magic seep from the planet.

The Southern Wastelands
The Southern continent chain of Icarusian, despite often being referred to as 'The Southern Wastelands', is in fact one of the most populated spots on the planet! Dragons come and go regularly, frequenting the Elder Woods settlement for trade, food, sightseeing and to visit the Ancient One's nesting grounds. This continent is often buzzing with activity, and many adventurous dragons will attempt to explore the frozen southernmost section of the planet, often returning with stories of strange creatures, perilous caverns and more.
The Elder Woods
The Elder Woods settlement is perhaps the most well-known of the Icarusian Boba Dragon homes. This relatively large territory encompasses the Nesting Grounds and the Ancient One's forest. The Settlement was founded by Blu in ancient times, originally set up as a defense border around the grounds after a small group of dragons had managed to steal multiple pearls, but has since turned into a bustling village and a hotspot for trading and growing food in relative safety.
The Nesting Grounds
A vast area composed of open scrub, long bushes and rocky caves, all surrounded by rings of trees decorated with the Ancient One's lanterns and etched with drawings by Old-World dragons. Small nests and indents for pearls to be safely incubated dot the whole expanse. The clearing is close by the Ancient One's home tree and is enveloped by his filtered magic, allowing eggs and bobalings to develop safely and without health implications. The area has picked up many dragons over time who patrol to ensure that no egg or hatchling is stolen away before fully grown, and that no parent loses their wanted child.
Elder Woods Center
Not far from the Nesting Grounds lies the center of the Elder Woods and the Ancient One's home; a vast, gnarled tree whose roots have dug so deep into the earth that the tree itself is magically attuned. Foxfires and small patterns on the wood itself glow and flicker as magic energy flows throughout this natural marvel, and it is here that the Ancient One roams, creating new pearls as he goes.
Glade Village
A small village set up near the base of some mountains by a dragon named Midori. As the founder had been abandoned by his parents shortly after growing old enough, he decided to create a refuge for others who share the same fate, and so this small territory is often bustling with activity from the residents who were found wandering the Nesting Grounds with nowhere to go. Other dragons occasionally pass by or settle in as well, giving the entire settlement a close, friendly vibe.
Glacial Springs
A moderately sized, fairly old settlement, Glacial Springs is set up by a lake in the tundra, making it a designated camp area for dragons trying to explore the ice cap further south. Most dragons here are openly curious about exploring, and it's a hotspot for artifact studies as each trip always unearths some strange trinket or a scrap of an unidentified creature.
The Everwoods
The Everwoods is a notorious continent for its dense, hard to navigate forests and misty labyrinths. Rumours of the feared Kai'gata float around here, and claims of strange creatures and ancient mysteries make it a source of interest to many dragons looking for a dangerous challenge.
Kai'gata's Cult
Kai'Gata's cult is a feared group of dragons known for their hostile nature and cannibalism-based belief system. The cult's hideout is very well hidden, as it's only meant to be found by fellow members and no one else. It resides on the cliffside of a mountainous region beside a dormant volcano, protected by ledges that cast a shadow over the entrance... As well as a river that flows overtop of it, creating a waterfall that blocks all view of the way inside. Thick forests surround the base of the cliff, heavy boulders aid in the concealment of it, and the only indicator of it being nearby would be the sight of the iconic marking carved into rock. Inside, the hideout has one large cave, and then a maze of twisting tunnels & smaller caves that go deep down into the mountain's core.
Pillar Spring
A medium-sized settlement inhabited mostly by secretive dragons. There isn't a particularly defined border to the place, though most of the dragons living there agree that the mysterious, broken pillars scattered around the forest mark their home.
Reclusion Forest
TBD
Desert Reach
One of the largest continents, Desert Reach is notorious for its rather unpleasant variety of dragons. Here a very clear split society exists, between the often snobby inhabitants of the forest and the aggressive plains dragons. Visitors to the continent are often warned many times over to stay well away from the dragons they come across.
Bushbounty
Dragons living in the rich forest are known to be lazy and narcissistic, usually with the opinion that they are above everyone. Most family units here keep to themselves in their rivalries to make their families rank higher, and they have a strange society consisting of materialistic reputation.
Wastelands
The unaffectionate name was given to this area by the dragons of Bushbounty. Here little food grows, and dragons roam in feral, aggressive packs, fighting over territory and precious resources. Further in one may find the vast expanses of the Sandshoal desert, which is avoided by all but the most desperate Wastelands inhabitants.
Sandshoal Desert
A wide former inland sea turned into a desert. Oasis areas are abundant, as well as fossilized remains of ocean life. Only the most hardy dragons are able to spend a lot of time wandering here without passing out from the intense heat brought on by the massive quantities of leftover salt that dry the air.
Northern Mountains
The Northern Mountains make up the largest landmass on Icarusian. Essentially the frozen North Pole of the planet, the bitterly cold tundras appear as harsh and unforgiving on first glance, but the immeasurable snow and hail only hides the many hospitable caves and sanctuaries.
Hoarfrost Crown
The mountain range patrolled by Atlas is known as the Hoarfrost Crown thanks to its towering crown-shaped peaks. These mountains can be viewed from as far away as Seadome due to how tall they are. Not many dragons populate the area, though some have settled in at the base of the massive ridge.
Driftpoint
A small frozen settlement founded by ice-loving dragons. Dragons living here tend to be so used to the cold climate that they feel considerable discomfort from slightly warmer temperatures. Driftpoint dragons are often stereotyped as having rather bitter attitudes and humour as bitingly cold as their environment, which is often proven untrue.
Galaglace
Only recently named after a group of young dragons discovered and released the first Galacais Dragon to be seen in millenia. This massive glacier forms a small pseudo-island, kept hospitable by an ancient tree anchored to a magic vent.
Breezekeep
A boreal forest area inhabited by curious dragons and a friendly resting point for weary travelers. Most dragons know Breezekeep for its warm hospitality to strangers.
Tidewash
The name given to any islands or settlements not connected to a continent. Because of this, Tidewash is expansive, encompassing many areas across the globe.
Seadome
A caldera balanced on the edge of a marine trench forms this aquatic settlement. Here, gilled dragons and those skilled with water magic, and dragons with an interest in fishing and marine biology frequent the salt-laced rocky cliffs. The mountain is pockmarked with thousands of holes - dens worn and scratched out by dragons to use as living spaces, study caves, shop areas and more. The surrounding reef and trench is filled with sea life, making it not only a beautiful sight, but also a highly sustainable habitat.
Astral Island
An old forgotten island named during the beginning of the Boba Dragon species by Aurus, as it has one of the clearest views of the stars at night. It became shrouded in mist and hidden by Astra shortly after the end of The Third, and has only recently been re-added to maps after her return from reclusion. It supports hundreds of unusual flora and fauna found nowhere else on the planet. Since its reveal, dragons have slowly begun to populate the shorelines, staying away from the crescent-shaped lake in the center and the dense, dangerous forests.
Cliffchain
A series of small rocky islands. Hardy sea-loving dragons can be found living among these storm-tossed formations.
Crater Depths
A hard to reach area. Crater Depths is sunken deep below what most dragons are able to reach, lying beneath Seadome. Here, only one Boba Dragon lives. Relic, tempered by the extreme depths over thousands of years, guards the magic vent that lies in the center... and, formerly, the Galacais Dragon god of the sea, Titanios.
Windpoint Isles
Over the surface of the ocean is a massive cluster of floating islands, turned into a favoured living place for frost and air magic dragons. Powerful magnetism keeps the rocks in place, and a giant vortex of water marks the boundaries of the isles below - an ancient, powerful whirlpool, that most dragons who inhabit the above area treat as a fun challenge, seeing how long their friends can swim against the current before being swept down and popping up far away from the borders.
Bridges stretch across the islands everywhere, making travelling easier for weak fliers and those without wings.
Species
There's a lot of different species to be found in Icarusian's history, and while this section and most of its contents is still a bit underdeveloped, it is in progress of being expanded on! The majority of the species found here are still not quite finished for public release yet.
Ancient Species
The ancient species are a small collection of very rare native Icarusian species from hundreds of thousands of years before Boba Dragons. There are only three such species, one of which being effectively extinct to everyone's knowledge.
-Galacais Dragons (Closed) - A massive space-travelling species that was once the dominant species of Icarusian. They were imprisoned long ago, but have now started to wake up once more.
-Cicorians (Closed) - Now extinct. These were a species that lacked magic, but made up for it with technology. They became power-hungry and sought to wipe the world clean in order to control it themselves. What happened to them? Well, let's just say their pride was their downfall.
-Skyden (Closed) - Also known as Dogs of the Void. These, alongside Galacais Dragons, were space-travelers. The species seemingly disappeared long before the Galacais were imprisoned, and it's currently unknown exactly where they are.
Current Species
All species that don't fall under the Ancient label, that are native to Icarusian.
-Boba Dragons (Closed) - The most well-known species of their world, Boba Dragons are known for being friendly, curious, and basically getting into everything.
-Chlororaptors (Semi-Open) - Small-medium raptors that grow plants out of their fur naturally. Often kept as pets by Boba Dragons.
-Wormlings (Open) - A small creature also often kept as pets by Boba Dragons. Wormlings are like worms on a string, just with feet.
-Caruvians (Open) - Small-medium avian reptiles that have an affinity for natural elements. They are found everywhere in Icarusian.
-Takirulas (Open) - Spiderlike mammalian entities that possess earth and air magic. Like Wormlings, these are commonly kept as pets by Boba Dragons.
-Fayrix (Open) - Basically: Fairy birds with phoenix properties. They are known as pests for the most part, often taking off with belongings or trying to lure dragons into traps. They're sometimes called "edible fairy lights" due to this.
