Dawn Cry, how it started, what they do, and how they work
Dawn Cry started when Techno escaped from the settlement Auris with his friend Zarune. They decided they'd make their own settlement, far away from Auris, for bobas who needed somewhere to flee to. They used to go out searching for those who needed such a place, but one day Techno came back changed, and decided they were going to require anyone else who came into Dawn Cry to repay their debt one day by completing a task given to you by him.
Dawn Cry then turned into a way for Techno to start gaining servitude, and eventually a way for him to mess up the lives of others for his own amusement. In the present times, Dawn Cry is still used for this purpose, with the exception of Zakuron, a being Techno believes is a god walking among them, but in reality is eating away at several members sanity due to their magic.

Payment
When a member is accepted into Dawn Cry, they are given all that they could need for the rest of their life, but are forever in debt, and must repay their debt via completing missions given to them by Techno. These missions can be anything from travelling to go get supplies for the settlement, murder of a non-member, or starting a chain reaction that would end up ruining their or someone else's life.

Code of Conduct
Basically the rules are to not mess with other members of the settlement, and especially not the leaders and their believed god. However if they're not a member, you can do whatever you want to them, especially if they're an exile.
Breaking into a member's home or stealing from a member will result in having your lantern taken away for a day, and having a mission set to you once your lantern is returned.
Attacking a member will result in being evicted from your home until you complete a set amount of missions. The amount depends on how much damage you did to the member and how many ranks above you they were.
Killing a member will result in having your lantern forcefully taken away and stored in The Vault, as well as being evicted into The Heathen's Nest until you can prove your use again.
Enough repeated breaking of the rules will result in getting your lantern permanantely take away and you will forever be stuck in The Heathen's Nest, or exiled depending on the crimes.
Killing more than one member will result in you being forced to live in The Arena, while your lantern is set to be destroyed if possible.
